Its days like today that make me forget we are in Italy for a little bit. Today we all woke up and started studying for our Italian midterm. We have covered a whole lot of vocab so we have been cramming that for a few days, and aside from the dialogues that our group has memorized we have only learned a few other things. So we quizzed each other and worked on the irregular verbs before heading to the grocery store to prepare for our “Festa Messicana” tomorrow night! We decided that a Mexican night would be a lot of fun, and even though it is tough to find the things we need (shredded cheese is a no go here, and tortilla chips are super expensive), it should be a lot of fun. After finishing our shopping (I am responsible for chips, cheese, and half of the guacamole) we came back to the apartment and studied until it was time for class.
The test ended up being extremely easy and dealt with applying our knowledge much more than just regurgitating it on the page. We had to listen to dialogue and answer questions, organize typical questions or statements into the locale you would hear them, match numbers, and the vocab was filling in words based on types (they gave us two words and we had to put two that fit with them, like fruits or conversation words). The only hiccup I had was accidentally spelling “che” (what) “que” (damn you Spanish!). After that we learned a new dialogue about making plans and sang an awesome song before leaving for the grocery store near our class. We still had no luck with the chips so our plan became making our own! After that we stopped at the Kebab place for dinner, watched some NCIS and worked on the blog, and went to bed!
